Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will cover the exam fee for low-income Year 12 students who are applying to sit the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) for the first time. Under the programme, support of up to TRY 1,400 per student will be provided, with applications open from 26 February to 8 March.
The Department of Social Services has launched the “YKS 2026 Exam Fee Support Programme” for Year 12 students who will take the YKS for the first time. The programme aims to support equal access to the right to education for students whose household income makes it difficult to meet the exam fee.
Who is eligible?
To benefit from the programme, students must:
•have applied for YKS 2026 administered by ÖSYM for the first time;
•be registered for the 2025–2026 academic year at Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Sur Akademi course;
•reside within the provincial boundaries of Diyarbakır; and
•have a household income that is confirmed, through assessment, to require social support.
Support amount and payment method
Support will be provided in cash as a contribution towards the exam fee. Payments will be capped at TRY 1,400 per student and limited to a maximum of two sessions (TYT–AYT or TYT–DIL). For successful applications, the payment will be made in a single transfer to the IBAN of the parent/guardian only.
Programme timetable announced
Applications will be submitted by the parent/guardian via the Municipality’s online application system. According to the programme timetable, following the announcement in February and the opening of online applications, the document and receipt upload period will run from 26 February to 8 March. Income assessments will be conducted between 5 and 31 March. Eligible beneficiaries will be finalised on 1 April, and payments will be made between 6 and 10 April.
