Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun carried out site inspections at several locations for the Substance Addiction Counselling and Education Centre planned for the city.

Following the meeting entitled “Addiction, Urban Need and a Shared Solution Model” held on 6 March, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun conducted site visits for the proposed Substance Addiction Counselling and Education Centre. As part of the work being carried out by the relevant municipal departments, potential sites for the centre were assessed on location.

The first inspection, conducted within the scope of the work coordinated by the Department of Social Services, the Department of Technical Works, and the Department of Planning and Urban Development, took place in Oğlaklı neighbourhood of Bağlar district. There, the Co-Mayors received information from the relevant departments on the physical condition of the site and the technical possibilities for establishing the centre.

The Co-Mayors then moved on to Yiğitçavuş neighbourhood of Sur district, where they examined and assessed alternative sites that could potentially host the centre.

As the final stop of the programme, the former district garage in Şehitlik neighbourhood of Yenişehir district, which has recently been vacated, was visited. Together with Yenişehir Municipality Co-Mayor Mehmet Ergün, the Co-Mayors inspected the site and exchanged views on its possible use for the proposed centre.

During the visits, Co-Mayors Bucak and Hatun exchanged views with the heads of the relevant departments regarding the sites under review.

Deputy Chief Executive Aziz Özdoğan and the heads of the relevant departments accompanied the Co-Mayors during the inspections.
