Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has digitally published the Kurdish comic magazine Bajar in order to contribute to the practical use of the language.

As part of its ongoing work to support the development of Kurdish, the Department of Culture, Arts and Social Affairs has added a new comic magazine to its publications. The first issue of the Kurdish comic magazine Bajar, prepared in digital format, has now been published and made available to readers. The magazine will continue to be published on a monthly basis.

Prepared as part of efforts to strengthen cultural and linguistic production, the magazine aims to increase the production of Kurdish-language content for readers of humour publications. The magazine was led by Doğan Güzel, the creator of the iconic Qırık character, well known in the memory of humour readers. Cartoonist İmam Cici also contributed to the publication.

To be published in Kurmanji and Zazaki

The magazine, which aims to encourage content production in different dialects of Kurdish, will be published every month in the Kurmanji and Zazaki dialects. In this way, it seeks both to expand the spheres in which Kurdish is used and to support a reading culture across different dialects.

The magazine, which aims to contribute to linguistic production, seeks to support the development of Kurdish and its wider use in everyday life, while also helping to make the language more practical and more accessible to broader sections of society. In this respect, the magazine will contribute to bringing residents into closer contact with Kurdish.

First issue also published in the Sorani dialect

The first issue of the magazine, which consists of 16 pages in total, will also be made available to readers in the Sorani dialect as a one-off edition. This is intended to ensure that readers who speak different dialects of Kurdish can also access the magazine.
