Women’s Health Education Programme continues

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Women’s Health Education Programme, delivered through interactive and practical sessions to help women access accurate and reliable information about their bodies, is continuing.

The Department of Women’s Policies continues to implement the Women’s Health Education Programme in the field. Following the programme launched at Quça Women’s Life Centre, it has now also started at Koşuyolu Women’s Life Centre, where it is being delivered once a week in a closed-group format with the participation of 15 women.

Through interactive discussions in which participants share their experiences, alongside practical activities, the programme seeks to make visible the effects of gender inequality on women’s health, including violence against women, economic dependence and barriers to accessing healthcare services.

Strengthening women in health-related decision-making

As part of the programme, which aims to improve women’s knowledge of their health rights, participants also discuss the ways and means of claiming those rights. At the end of the 11-week programme, the aim is for women to better understand their own bodies, gain a clearer understanding of physiological processes, and become more empowered in making decisions about their health.

Programme topics

The education programme, which also aims to strengthen solidarity among women, covers the following topics: “Communication; Gender Equality/Inequality; Violence Against Women; Adolescence; Reproductive Organs and Their Functions; Protective Behaviours for Reproductive Health; Maternal and Infant Health; Sexual Health and Reproductive Rights; Menopause; and General Health-Promoting Behaviours.”
