DBB strengthens its transport fleet with 16 new buses

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has added 16 new buses to its fleet in order to strengthen urban public transport services.

The Transportation Department continues its work to respond to the city’s growing urban structure and increasing transport needs. As part of this work, 12 of the 16 newly purchased buses have been delivered and made ready for service, while the remaining four are expected to join the fleet shortly.

With the new vehicles, the Municipality aims both to reduce congestion on existing routes and to expand transport services to the city’s developing neighbourhoods.

The 12-metre solo buses are expected to provide significant relief in urban transport with their passenger capacity and level of comfort. The new vehicles will be deployed particularly on heavily used routes, helping to increase service frequency.

A younger fleet targeted

With the purchase of new vehicles, the Transportation Department aims to reduce the average age of the existing fleet and build a more modern transport network. In this regard, new bus purchases are expected to continue until the end of the year.

‘We are working to provide a more comfortable and efficient service’

Speaking about the purchase of the new buses, Head of the Transportation Department Temel Cengiz said: “As Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, we have purchased 16 new buses to be used both on our existing routes and in route planning for new residential areas as the city continues to develop. We have received 12 of them, and the remaining four will arrive within the next three to five days. These are 12-metre solo buses. New bus purchases will continue until the end of the year as part of our efforts to renew our fleet. We will continue working to provide our residents with a more comfortable and faster service.”
